STUDIO RULES + FAQ
Please review before booking
IS THERE A MINIMUM RENTAL TIME?
Yes. Studio rentals have a 2-hour minimum.
Your reserved time includes load-in, setup, production, breaks, cleanup, wrap, and load-out. Please book enough time for your entire production process.
RENTAL TIME-
WHEN DOES IT START & END?
Your reservation begins and ends at the exact times confirmed with your booking.
Setup, load-in, shooting, breaks, cleanup, reset, wrap, and load-out must all happen within your reserved time. Arriving late does not extend the booking.
Early access or additional time must be approved in advance and is subject to availability. Overtime may be charged in 30-minute increments at the applicable rate.
WHAT’S THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PEOPLE YOU ALLOW ON-SET?
Studio Metropolis offers standard booking tiers for 1–5, 6–10, and 11–15 people total on site.
Everyone counts toward headcount, including talent, crew, clients, assistants, hair and makeup, wardrobe, producers, vendors, service providers, and guests.
Productions with 16 or more people require advance approval and a custom booking.
Please contact bookings@studiometropolis.com so we can review your production scope and recommend the appropriate setup.
CAN I TOUR THE STUDIO BEFORE BOOKING?
Yes. Private 30-minute walkthroughs are available for $50.
After a completed walkthrough, the $50 investment may be applied as a credit toward one direct Studio Metropolis rental booked within 30 days, subject to the walkthrough credit terms.
Walkthroughs are a great way to review shooting areas, access, production flow, equipment needs, specialty areas, and any questions before your shoot.
CAN I USE A SEAMLESS PAPER BACKDROP?
Yes. Seamless paper may be available in select colors, subject to availability.
Using seamless as a standard backdrop may be included depending on your booking. If seamless is pulled onto the floor, excessively used, stained, torn, damaged, or requires replacement, additional usage, cleaning, labor, or replacement charges may apply.
Please let us know what color and setup you need before your production.
CAN I BUILD A SET OR ATTACH THINGS TO THE WALLS?
Set builds, large installations, specialty rigging, wall attachments, painting, and similar production modifications require advance approval.
Please tell us what you are planning before booking so we can confirm what is possible.
Drilling, cutting, sanding, permanent rigging, ceiling work, nails, screws, staples, or other penetrating materials may not be used without written approval.
Approved custom setups may require additional labor, restoration, insurance, staffing, or investment.
ROOFTOP / ALLEY / STAIRWELL / EXTERIOR ACCESS
Selected specialty and exterior areas may be available for approved productions.
Access is not automatically included with a Studio rental and must be requested in advance.
Availability is subject to Building rules, weather, safety requirements, production scope, staffing, and Studio Metropolis approval. Additional investment, insurance, or supervision may be required.
FREIGHT ELEVATOR + LOAD-IN
Freight elevator access may be available for larger equipment, wardrobe, props, furniture, and production load-in.
Passenger elevator access is also available.
All elevator and loading access is subject to Building operations and procedures. Please let us know in advance if your production requires a significant load-in so we can help you plan appropriately.
Hallways, elevators, exits, fire doors, and loading areas must remain clear at all times.
STEP-FREE ACCESS + ACCESSIBILITY
The Studio has a step-free route from the Building entrance to the elevator and into the Studio.
If you, your talent, or a member of your production has specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking so we can help plan arrival, access, and load-in.
IS THERE A CLEANING FEE?
Any standard cleaning charge applicable to your rental will be shown during booking or confirmed with your reservation.
Standard cleaning covers normal Studio turnover only.
Excessive cleaning, spills, stains, tape residue, glitter, confetti, powders, food, liquids, hair or makeup product residue, production debris, set-build materials, or restoration may result in additional cleaning and labor charges.
Please leave the Studio substantially as you found it and remove all production materials and belongings before the end of your reservation.
GLITTER, CONFETTI + MESSY MATERIALS
Confetti, glitter, rice, powders, fake blood, oils, body oil, milk, flour, uncontained water, and similar messy materials require advance written approval.
Approved materials may require additional cleaning, staffing, protective measures, deposits, or fees depending on the production.
Please disclose these materials during booking so we can properly prepare the space.
SMOKE + HAZE
Foggers, hazers, smoke machines, atmospheric effects, candles, open flames, pyrotechnics, and similar effects require advance written approval.
Some effects may require additional fire-safety precautions, Building approval, insurance, permits, staffing, or other conditions.
Do not bring or activate atmospheric or open-flame effects without prior approval.
ALCOHOL + DRUGS
Alcohol and alcohol consumption are prohibited unless Studio Metropolis provides prior written approval.
Any approved alcohol use must comply with applicable laws and Building requirements.
Illegal drugs and illegal activity are prohibited at all times.
Studio Metropolis is a professional production environment and does not offer general party or open-invite event rentals.
MUSIC + SOUND
Music is welcome at a reasonable production volume.
Please remain mindful of neighboring tenants and Building operations. Excessively loud music, amplified performances, or anything likely to disturb the Building may require advance approval.
Studio Metropolis or Building management may request that volume be reduced at any time.
PARKING
Multiple paid parking lots and metered or street-parking options are available nearby.
Parking availability is not guaranteed unless specifically confirmed with your booking.
Clients and guests are responsible for posted parking restrictions, permits, meters, fees, citations, towing, and other parking requirements.
For productions with substantial equipment or multiple vehicles, please contact us in advance so we can help you plan load-in.
EQUIPMENT + ADD-ONS
Select grip equipment, production support items, backdrops, and other amenities may be available with your rental.
Additional lighting, specialty equipment, backdrop usage, wall setups, storage, production support, or other services may require an additional investment.
Please review the confirmed booking details or contact us before your production if you need something specific.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
Standard Studio outlets are available throughout the space.
Productions using unusually high-draw lighting, specialty equipment, large lighting packages, or other power-intensive setups must notify Studio Metropolis in advance.
Clients may not access electrical panels or alter power distribution without approval.
ANIMALS
Service animals are permitted as required by applicable law.
Other animals require advance approval and may be subject to additional conditions or fees.
Approved animals must remain controlled and housebroken while in the Studio.
